Promises Malibu Launches Wellness Program in Time for the Holidays

Clients in treatment at Promises Treatment Centers in Malibu over the holidays will enjoy the new Wellness Program at no additional cost, which includes such options as acupuncture, nutritional counseling, massage, yoga, and mindfulness meditation.

December 1, 2010 (Malibu) – Promises Treatment Centers in Malibu is launching its new Wellness Program in December, and as an introductory offer will include these additional services at no added cost for those clients who seek treatment during the holiday season. Clients who enter Promises Malibu for treatment between November 24 and December 31 are eligible for the Wellness package offer, which is worth over $1200.

Promises Treatment Centers recognizes that while the holiday season is a time of joy, it can also be a time of stress and tension for individuals in early recovery. To encourage clients to take extra care during the holiday season, Promises Malibu decided it was the perfect time to launch the new Wellness Program, which is designed to meet the specific physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of each client in early recovery.

“The goal of developing a specialized Wellness Program is to help clients learn how to be healthy and nurturing during stressful times,” explained Dr. Shari Corbitt, Senior Executive Director of Promises. “If while in treatment clients develop an understanding of how to cope with stress, they will be better equipped to address any challenges when they return home. Ultimately, this self-awareness can reduce the risk of relapse.”

The Wellness Program has been designed to help clients reflect and experience recovery on a deeper level. Through a combination of Eastern and Western therapies, the goal is to help each person access deeper levels of self-understanding.

The special Wellness Program is tailored to each individual, who will work with their primary therapist to design a combination of therapies that can include a Chinese Medicine Assessment, acupuncture, nutritional counseling, a choice of massage (Swedish, Thai, Shiatsu, Polarity, or Ten Wa), hot yoga classes (Vinyasa Flow), as well as mindfulness meditation and spiritual counseling with acclaimed meditation guide Richard Burr. Clients can also choose a guided nature hike, rock-climbing, or another wilderness activity with Active Recovery Wilderness Coach Ryan Laughman.

“These activities will be interwoven in a way that specifically suits each client and supports their health and wellness during the holiday season, a very difficult time to get and remain clean and sober,” explained Dr. Shari Corbitt.
