Depression can affect anyone at any time, taking precedence over everything. Depression also does not discriminate as to a person’s economic status, race and gender. When we recognize the signs and symptoms it can be easier to take action before it spirals out of control.
Depression does not affect everyone the same way. Some people who are diagnosed with depression can’t get out of bed, feeling unable to interact with the world. Others become incredibly busy, seemingly getting more done in a day than a normal human should. Being this busy can often disguise depression.

Diet and exercise can have a significant impact on mental health. Maintaining healthy lifestyle choices can make depressive episodes less severe and easier to get through. Additionally, these choices can help us all be more in tune with what our bodies are telling us, both physically and mentally.
4. Work and Relationships
Staying in a job that is unfulfilling and unsupportive can make life difficult to cope with, especially during difficult times. Relationships that are positive and uplifting provide a healthier environment. Though they won’t stop depressive episodes or our susceptibility to mental illness, support groups can be a great help during a rough patch.

Taking into consideration physical, emotional and medical resources won’t fix all of the problems that come with depression, but they can create positive habits to better manage it.
