Psychological Trauma the Focus of Professional Workshop Series by Promises Treatment Center’s Renowned Trauma Expert
Part One of the series, titled “Psychological Trauma: The Hidden Epidemic,” will take place on August 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Attendees will learn about the different types of psychological trauma and their short- and long-term impacts on trauma survivors. This session sets the stage for the second workshop, which focuses on Dr. Courtois’ sequenced model of trauma treatment.
Part Two of the series, titled “What’s Trauma Got to Do with It? An Introduction to Trauma-Informed Care,” will take place on September 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Dr. Courtois will discuss several ways to identify a history of trauma and to treat it compassionately and comprehensively using her integrative and relational approach.
“Psychological trauma is frequently at the root of addictions and other mental health issues, yet its high occurrence and potential for serious consequences are often minimized and misunderstood,” said Dr. Courtois. “Professionals attending these workshops will gain important insights into identifying and treating trauma, allowing them to more effectively address their clients’ self-defeating behaviors as well as the underlying issues.”
The cost to attend each workshop is $25 and attendees may earn two continuing education credits per workshop. Seating is limited so register early. To register for this event, visit the Elements Behavioral Health events page or contact Jeanette Lisalda at (866) 825-1104 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
