We offer onsite medically monitored detox so that withdrawal symptoms don’t prevent our clients from fully engaging in treatment. While the detox process typically takes between 3 and 7 days, we assess each client individually and develop a plan to detox them safely and comfortably in the time frame most effective for their specific needs.
So many people abandon recovery before they even have a chance to begin due to painful withdrawal symptoms. We make sure that our clients’ detox is both safe and comfortable and that withdrawal symptoms don’t hinder their ability to participate in treatment.
In our inpatient program, clients develop a sense of accountability and responsibility within the community. Clients live in a home-like environment where they complete chores, develop life skills, and address the underlying reasons for their substance abuse.
By building a sense of accountability and responsibility, clients are able to individualize themselves from their families and create a successful life after treatment.
Our outpatient treatment program helps clients successfully transition out of treatment and into their sober lives. During our intensive outpatient program, clients attend treatment 6 hours per day, 5 days per week. Treatment includes individual, group, and family therapy, yoga, wellness coaching, Rock to Recovery, 12-step meetings, and alumni groups.
Outpatient treatment provides ongoing support during the critical transition out of residential treatment back home or into a sober living environment. We emphasize relapse prevention, life skills, and planning for life after treatment, including exploring education, work, and volunteer opportunities.
We understand that treatment is just the beginning of recovery. Through our full continuum of care, unparalleled alumni network, and strong focus on aftercare planning, we are dedicated to making sure that each client has the tools they need to successfully navigate their lives after treatment.
Through our aftercare program, we give clients the tools they need to successfully navigate early recovery and transition into independent adulthood.
Continuum of Care
We offer a complete continuum of care, from detox and inpatient treatment to outpatient treatment, sober living and aftercare. This phased approach to treatment helps clients gently ease back into everyday life with the support of professional staff and peers in recovery.
Young adults face a unique set of challenges both during and after treatment. By tailoring our approach to help our clients face those challenges through our 9-month continuum of care, we’re able to offer actionable therapies that give them the tools they need to launch their lives post-treatment.
An important part of recovery is being able to express emotions. We offer Rock to Recovery, a fun, therapeutic “Rock Academy,” and art therapy to help our clients connect with their emotions and express themselves in a new way. Sessions include time with creative professionals to help foster the experience of healing through creative expression. Clients have the opportunity to learn and play instruments, paint, draw, and write music.
Finding a creative outlet to express feelings and have fun can be healing for many clients. By learning new ways to express themselves, they’re able to grow in their recovery as well as other areas of their life.
We recognize the need for the family to heal along with their loved one. Each client is assigned a clinician that will manage their family care throughout treatment. We offer family groups led by a licensed marriage and family therapist, and each family will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with a family therapist and to attend a four-day family program.
For a client to successfully transition out of treatment and back into their life, the entire family needs treatment and education. By working through treatment together, families are able to rebuild trust, discover healthier ways of relating, and support one another through the recovery process.
Recovery isn’t just about abstaining from drugs and alcohol. It’s about treating the entire person: mind, body, and spirit. We offer an array of holistic treatments including yoga, meditation, and spiritual counseling to help our clients take a 360-degree approach to wellness and heal in every area of their lives.
Holistic treatments can help people guard against relapse and continue to grow in recovery. They can also offer a deeper level of healing by addressing issues clients might have previously ignored, such as spirituality.
Clients have the unique opportunity to hike and interact with wolves and wolfdogs. This highly impactful daylong experience builds on the primal connection between humans and wolves, teaching young people wolf principles like working together to succeed.
This challenging and enlightening experience allows clients to connect with themselves and others in a new way and fosters compassion, communication, trust, and engagement.
On the phone call, there was just a lot of love … that was the important thing. When I made the phone call, I didn’t feel like “just another person.” I felt the love and support … and that someone really just cared and they wanted to help me. It wasn’t like they were forcing me to go. It just came from a place of love … that really did ease the fear.
This one stood out to me the most … there’s a really strong community. I knew from being in and out of the program for 7 years. I know a lot of people who came out here to get sober, so I knew the West LA community was a really good place to go. A lot of things just drew me to come out here, and being here is even better than I thought it would be. The staff cares so much, above and beyond, and I hadn’t really experienced that before in past treatment — they just came to work and left — but these people really care about my life.
We’ve created a treatment environment that encourages accountability, connection, and vulnerability and allows our clients to fully explore their issues in a safe, supportive place. Our highly trained staff specializes in working with young adults and the unique challenges they face, including how to set healthy boundaries and establish independence.
Promises offers both inpatient and outpatient services to young adults ages 18 to 30 who suffer from drug and alcohol abuse, co-occurring mental health disorders and behavioral addictions such as gambling or shopping, and failure to launch.
Promises Young Adult program is located on the Westside of Los Angeles in Mar Vista, between Beverly Hills and the Pacific Ocean.
