Addiction Recovery Center Evening Review Of The Day

When the sun sets behind Desert Mountain and cactus wrens perch atop the sleeping palm trees, addicts at Sundance recovery center gather to review their day. Evening Review is a time for the recovering alcoholic and drug addict to sit in a circle with their counselors for a group discussion of how their day went. During Evening Review, it’s all about the principles of honesty and open-mindedness and telling on your self – whether good or bad.

One of the guests, Paul, confided in the group that he had been struggling throughout the day with past memories of using. The counselor sitting in the circle was aware of Paul’s mental obsession struggles throughout the course of the day… and upon weighing in on the conversation he encouraged Paul to further reveal how he overcame the obsession. “I found something constructive to do,” Paul said. “I volunteered to wash the dishes in the kitchen…and at the end of my chore the obsession to use heroin was gone.”

At Sundance addiction recovery center, Evening Review is paramount in our guests recovery program because it gives us an opportunity to measure their recovery progress, and it gives them the opportunity to practice a vital recovery principle – honesty… something they are not accustomed to practicing when they are actively using drugs or alcohol. Evening Review is a vital step in our drive to get the one you love back.
