In a recent radio interview with KTAR in Arizona, Jaime Vinck (JHC Corporate Medical Director), discussed how Psychiatrists are defining the way they look at Alcoholism and Substance Abuse. See the article below:

Psychiatrists are redefining how they look at alcohol and substance abuse in their DSM 5 diagnostic manual.

Currently there are two terms for the problem: “substance abuse” to define short-term and self-restricting problems, and “substance dependence” to define what is commonly known as alcoholism.

“The new term is called ‘substance abuse disorder,'” said Jaime Vinck, corporate clinical director for Journey Healing Centers.
