That’s why Betsy Spier, MFT, who started with Promises West L.A. in 2010 as a family therapist, quickly became Director of Outpatient Services and now serves as the program’s Executive Director. Betsy Spier is a licensed marriage and family therapist who specializes in couples counseling and addiction and co-occurring disorders. She helped open one of the first dual diagnosis programs in South Central L.A. in the mid-1990s and has more than 20 years of experience in addiction and mental health treatment. A graduate of Antioch University, Betsy not only works as a clinician and administrator but also teaches at the Drug and Alcohol Studies Department of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). As far back as 1993, when Spier met Richard Rogg, founder of Promises Treatment Centers, she knew this was a place she wanted to work.
