Co-occurring Disorders

Co-occurring disorders, or dual diagnosis, refers to the presence of psychological and behavioral conditions co-existing with drug and/or alcohol dependence. These co-occurring conditions can include depression, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, anxiety disorders, attention deficit disorder and/or personality disorders, mood swings, insomnia, trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder, sexual compulsivity, and more.

Identifying this condition has provided valuable insight into the complexity of addiction, and addressing this condition properly is critical in creating a sustainable recovery.

At Promises Treatment Centers, our evidence-based approach in treating dual diagnosis is one of the hallmarks that sets our program apart from others throughout the country. Our in-depth experience with our psychiatrists allows us to tailor a treatment plan that is personalized for each individual client. Treatment is integrated with a comprehensive array of services to support and deepen the recovery.

Promises uses a combination of individual psychotherapy and group treatment that allows clients to relate to the staff and feel safe when opening up about their problems. Therapy is supported by a commitment to helping clients understand and embrace the recovery process through education as well as 12-Step work and meetings.

By treating the total condition, and the total person, not just the addiction, we have found that our clients benefit immeasurably. They are given the opportunity to achieve the complete and lasting recovery they so richly deserve.
