Welcome To Rooted: Promises Behavioral Health Alumni Communities
Rooted is a free service provided to alumni from any of the Promises family of treatment centers to attend for life and is offered weekly at a variety of cities nationwide and online through our virtual meetings on the Zoom platform.
As society is aligning with the social adjustments needed for purposeful distancing, we have adjusted our sails so that we can navigate these winds and lead our alumni and others in recovery through these storms while continuing to provide meaningful avenues of connection.
Until further notice, We are welcoming all people in all forms of recovery (including those who did not attend treatment with us) to join us on any of our recently-expanded range of virtual recovery meetings. No matter what you are recovering from or what brought you here, WE ARE SO GLAD TO HAVE YOU JOIN US!
Below you will find our live calendar listing each of our virtual recovery meetings that are accessible to anyone worldwide all week, every week!

One of the most important things you can do to stay in recovery after a rehab program is to seek out an alumni program. These programs can be enormously helpful in making sure that you have the care and support you need throughout the recovery process. At Promises Behavioral Health, we’re committed to your sobriety, before, during, and after you enroll in one of our rehab programs. What is an Alumni Program?
An alumni program is one of the aftercare programs that we offer at Promises Behavioral Health. This program connects the people who have completed one of our substance abuse treatment programs and empowers them to support one another. Some of the people in an alumni program completed their treatment only a few months ago. Others went through their program years ago. The time difference doesn’t matter; what does matter is that you want to help and get support from other people who are trying to remain sober.
Usually, an alumni program involves gatherings of people who have completed the Promises rehab program and the staff at Promises. It also may include having access to treatment resources and information.
Benefits of an Alumni Program
One of the main advantages of an alumni program is that you get to meet and listen to people who have been through the same situations as you. That way, you can learn how to manage your cravings through other peoples’ experiences. Along the way, you also have the same opportunity to give advice to other people who are in the same situation.
Besides the advantage of social support, an alumni program allows you to practice the relapse prevention skills you receive in rehab. Your skills may include:
- How to manage stress, remain calm, or deal with anxiety, without turning to drugs or alcohol
- Using cognitive-behavioral skills, which allow you to stay in touch with your emotions and help you to avoid negative behavioral patterns
- Utilizing social skills to meet and interact with the people around you in a positive manner
- How to solve problems when you encounter daily triggers
During an alumni program, you can practice these skills with other people in a stress-free environment. As a result, you can strengthen and maintain your recovery, which allows you to manage any challenges or triggers that you encounter in your day to day life.
What to Expect
Every alumni program has unique attributes. One thing that remains the same is that you can connect with the people around you. As a result, you are able to keep in touch with the people that you met and formed relationships with during your treatment program.
The components of an alumni program may vary depending on your program. However, common elements include:
- Weekly or biweekly meetings
- Education workshops on addiction
- Group session that former graduates of a Promises Behavioral Health treatment program run
- Monthly sober activities
- 24-hour hotlines
- National meetings
- Social media groups
- Annual reunions
- Email connections
- Help finding other support options, such as a 12-step program or sober living facilities
The most important thing to expect when you come to an alumni program at Promises Behavioral Health is support. We know what it’s like to journey through your recovery. We don’t want you to have to make that journey alone.
