We provide multiple weekly individual therapy sessions by master’s and doctoral level therapists. This level of one-on-one attention ensures that your unique issues are addressed and enables your primary therapist to continue to counsel and coach you through extended care, if needed. Treatment also includes 30 hours a week of dynamic process groups, where you will receive feedback and support from your peers, in addition to psychoeducational groups, relapse prevention planning, and a wide range of integrative and alternative therapies.
The Promises Experience: A Luxury Drug Rehab and Detox Center
The disease of addiction and other behavioral health issues is complex
and each person’s treatment needs are unique.
In line with our commitment to personalized treatment, each Promises experience will be different for each client. Although the daily schedule will vary from client to client, every person who comes to Promises will experience Promises excellence: comprehensive and individualized treatment plans, a healing environment with the highest privacy standards, and every resource needed to begin life in recovery.
At Promises, your care is entrusted to a team of licensed, credentialed and dedicated treatment professionals, many of whom have experienced recovery in their own lives. Each team includes a primary therapist, family therapist, psychiatrist, medical doctor, nurse, and, if necessary, drug and alcohol detox specialist(s), all of whom are either Promises staff or highly qualified, licensed independent affiliates. Seeing you transform your life is the reason we do this work, and we will go above and beyond to help you succeed.

Completing treatment at Promises is only the start of our commitment to lasting recovery. We stay actively involved in helping you transition back to everyday life and encourage you to remain connected to the recovery community. The Promises Alumni Association makes available to clients and their families a variety of resources, including meetings, workshops, special events and follow-up. Our staff has access to a network of support groups and alumni to help you find the support you need after you graduate, no matter where you live.
Addiction is commonly referred to as a “family disease” because of its significant impact on the entire family. Family members struggle to help while watching their loved one continue the cycle of self-destruction, which devastates the entire family. Underlying these efforts are often feelings of helplessness, despair, anxiety and anger about the damage the addiction has caused.
Our Family Program is designed to help family members gain awareness and understanding so that they can learn how to best support their loved one, as well as themselves. Promises reconnects clients with their families and creates a foundation in recovery that the entire family can build upon. The program includes individualized therapy for couples and families, education and support for loved ones, multiple family groups, and support meetings.
At Promises, everyone is treated with respect and compassion. This is a safe place for you and your loved ones to be authentic and vulnerable and to work through the issues that have held you back. Within an accepting space, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, questioning or intersex clients can feel safe and supported by other clients and our treatment team, which includes LGBT staff who have an intimate understanding of the challenges that LGBT clients face in recovery.

Off Campus Activities
Promises does not keep our clients isolated from the outside world during their residential stay. Among other outings and activities, clients are taken to community-based 12-Step meetings daily as well as a neighborhood gym five days a week. In doing so, our clients can experience the real world with the safety and supervision of staff. Clients are able to build new, clean and sober experiences, and associations in the world outside of treatment, making the post-treatment transition easier.
Real-World Coping Skills
Promises Treatment Centers allow clients to have access to newspapers and magazines, listen to the radio, call loved ones, and watch TV at appropriate times, with supervision. By utilizing a real-world perspective, Promises prepares clients for day-to-day life, such as driving past a liquor store or reading an advertisement for an alcoholic beverage. The key is that Promises teaches clients how to process feelings that may arise while exposed to these situations.
The professional chefs at Promises serve home-style or individually prepared meals to accommodate food preferences such as vegetarian, kosher, vegan or other specialized dietary needs. At every meal, clients can choose from a wide variety of healthy, fresh foods that are prepared with the unique nutritional needs of individuals in recovery in mind.
