What are Roxxies?

Opioids are one of the most commonly misused types of drugs, and one of these opioids is Roxxie. But what are Roxxies? Roxicodone, or Roxxie, is an opioid analgesic with a high potential for abuse.

At Promises, we offer treatment programs to help you break free from addiction. Learn more about our options by calling Promises at 844.875.5609

What Are Roxxies? Understanding Opioid Analgesics

Roxicodone—also called Roxxies, Roxies, and Roxys—is an opioid analgesic created to help manage pain. It affects the central nervous system, so it’s highly effective for moderate to severe pain.

Opioids work on the opioid receptors throughout your body, dulling pain while simultaneously releasing huge amounts of endorphins. This flood of feel-good hormones is what leads to feelings of euphoria.

Roxicodone is similar to its more famous cousin, Oxycodone, but Roxxies are manufactured as immediate-release tablets, offering quick relief from pain as well as an immediate feeling of well-being. This is the feature of Roxxies that makes them so dangerous—the faster you can receive the “high,” the quicker the addiction can form.

The signs and symptoms of Roxicodone addiction include:

  • Doctor shopping
  • Lying about drug use
  • Mood swings
  • Euphoria
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Isolation
  • Loss of appetite
  • Dizziness
  • Itching
  • Increased sweating
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Constipation
  • Nodding off
  • Brain fog

As with other drugs, your body builds tolerance to Roxxies. This means that you need to take more of it to feel the effects you want, putting you in danger of an overdose. An opioid overdose can be fatal because opioids impact the areas of the brain that affect breathing.

A Roxicodone overdose presents with what’s called the opioid overdose triad—severe respiratory depression, significantly decreased levels of consciousness, and constricted pupils.

Treating an Addiction to Roxxies: How to Start Healing

At Promises, we offer various treatment levels throughout our facilities to help you find your path back to sobriety.

Medical Detox: Avoiding Withdrawal Symptoms

Although opioid withdrawal symptoms tend not to be as dangerous as those of other drugs, they can still cause discomfort and put you at risk of dehydration because they tend to involve vomiting and diarrhea.

To avoid these symptoms, you can choose a medical detox program. Using the right medications, we can help you remove the substance from your body safely.

Residential Treatment: The Highest Level of Care

For those just starting their recovery or for those who have unsuccessfully tried getting sober, we recommend residential treatment. This care level immerses you in the recovery process, removing you from your normal environment so that you can focus on healing.

Like all of our programs, it involves hours of individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, and much more.

Outpatient Treatment: Keeping Up With Responsibilities While Healing

We offer several different levels of outpatient treatment at our facilities.

Our partial hospitalization program is one step below residential treatment, providing many hours of therapy but still letting you return home each night.

We also offer intensive-outpatient programs that require fewer treatment hours, helping you begin regaining your independence. At one of our facilities, we also offer virtual intensive outpatient programs for those who can’t attend sessions in person.
